Komodo, Flores, Sumba, and Timor are the parts of Lesser Sunda island abounding with great forests; from green mangrove forest to tropical rain forest inhabited by many birds species of which 20 are the endemic ones.

The spots that become the main places to do the birding are Mbeliling, Golo Lusang, Gapong, Ranamese, Poco Ndeki, and Kelimutu National Park.

Besides the attraction for the Dragon, Komodo National Park also becomes one of the best places to do the birding program for it is the home of the last significant population of Yellow-Crested Cockatoo.

Sumba and Timor might be relatively undeveloped, and less visited among the other places in East Nusa Tenggara, but they have the access to some of the rarest bird species, like Sumba Hornbill, Sumba Myzomela, Apricot-Breasted Sunbird, and some other endemics and avifauna that resembles the ones in the north part of Australia.
